What People Like About Minneapolis, MN
Minneapolis
is a city that's being celebrated for its active lifestyle. I like this because
it offers ample opportunities for outdoor recreation, fresh food, and farmers'
markets. It also ranks among the top five fittest cities in the United States
and provides numerous options for running, cycling, as well as fitness classes.
This location is known as the City of Lakes; Minneapolis boasts over a dozen
lakes, 160 neighborhood parks, biking and walking trails of 100 miles, 55 miles
of parkways, and 12 gardens, along with several regional parks. Also, the city
is diverse; it features vibrant African-American, Latino, Somali, and
Vietnamese communities.
American Swedish Institute
This
American Swedish Institute is indeed a vibrant art and cultural organization
which connects locally and globally. With a campus including the historic
Turnblad Mansion and the Nelson Cultural Center, ASI offers various arts and
culture, language programs, Nordic handcraft workshops, Nordic table foodways
classes, youth and family programs, and Swedish Word of the Week. The ASI blog
provides information on Swedish culture, meetings with the Turnblads, the
Library & Archives, and activities. Through membership, donations, and
sponsorships, the ASI gets some support. ASI's mission, vision, and values
guide its work, and it engages the community through community engagement
initiatives in the Phillips West neighborhood.
2024 NAIOP Awards Recognize in Minnesota
This Minnesota Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, has chosen 16 projects for special recognition, including medical offices and industrial buildings. Ten of the 16 awards were won by suburban projects, with four in Minneapolis, including the mixed-use North Loop Green and the repositioned International Market Square. The special purpose award went to the Treetop Trail at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley. The 41st Annual Awards of Excellence event at the Metropolitan Ballroom in Golden Valley announced the winners. The judges evaluated the buildings based on project development, function and design, architectural integrity, market feasibility, sustainable attributes, and unique project challenges.
